The Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Palliative and End-of-Life Care Assess, Treat and Refer Program is one of the many new programs under the Palliative and End-of-Life Care Alberta Provincial Framework. It provides urgent care to people who receive palliative and end-of-life care in their homes.
Front line paramedics and community clinicians will work together to ensure that the emergency treatment matches with the patients overall care plan. This may include providing support to patients in their homes rather than transporting to a hospital. This improves patient and family experiences, and reduces the impact on emergency departments.
See our service listing for a complete description of the program.
