Through our partnerships with the University of Alberta and the University of Calgary, AHS Medical Affairs facilitates the placement of post-graduate physician trainees across Alberta.

AHS Medical Affairs is primarily responsible for professional credentials verification, clinical access provisioning, and administering the human resources transactions (including payroll) of the Resident Physicians’ Agreement.

The residency/fellowship training program is the first point of contact for coordinating registration; the University will initiate the placement process with Medical Affairs. Eligible Resident Physicians & Clinical Fellows must satisfy AHS’ minimum requirements in advance of their clinical placement, including:
NOTE: Individuals who are not Canadian citizens or permanent residents may require a work permit.
Medical Affairs provides access and instructions directly to new postgraduate trainees after the minimum requirements have been satisfied.

If selected for an opportunity with AHS, Medical Affairs will help coordinate the Medical Staff Appointment Application and effort will be made to transition clinical access with minimal interruption.
