Post-Polypectomy Surveillance Guidelines

The CCSC uses evidence-based post-polypectomy surveillance algorithms to provide recommendations for ongoing colon cancer screening and colonoscopy surveillance to patients who undergo a colonoscopy at the Centre and to their referring physicians. The algorithms are based on published clinical practice guidelines, recent published evidence and expert opinion.

CCSC endoscopists are able to modify the recommendation for specific patients if, in their opinion, based upon all available clinical information, a different surveillance interval is more appropriate. The algorithms used for individuals at average and increased risk for colon cancer are provided. They are provided for the information of referring physicians to understand how decisions about the ongoing management of individual patients were arrived at and are not meant to act as clinical practice guidelines to guide the management of other patients.
