COPD

Primary Health Care Resource Centre

In 2009-2010, 772,200 (4 per cent) Canadians, aged 35 years and older, reported being diagnosed with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). COPD is the sixth leading cause of mortality and is expected to increase to a third by 2020. Since the mid-1960s, mortality from COPD has increased 163 per cent.

We used to know COPD as emphysema and chronic bronchitis.
