Temporary COVID-19 testing site closing in Olds

November 16, 2021

Testing services remain available in other locations for residents

OLDS — Due to a decrease in demand for COVID-19 testing, Alberta Health Services (AHS) will be closing the local temporary testing site later today.

The location was opened in September in response to increased COVID-19 activity within the area, as well as increased demand for access to testing. Since that time, site usage has dropped significantly.

Testing services remain available in Red Deer and Airdrie, both about 60 km away. Public Health staff continue to offer community/home-based testing in exceptional circumstances in which clients are unable to travel to a testing site.

Individuals with symptoms of COVID-19 are advised to self-isolate immediately, and go online to book a testing appointment at ahs.ca/covid. Clients without Internet access can call 811 and Health Link staff will book a test appointment.

Alberta Health Services is the provincial health authority responsible for planning and delivering health supports and services for more than four million adults and children living in Alberta. Its mission is to provide a patient-focused, quality health system that is accessible and sustainable for all Albertans.
