HINTON — Residents of Hinton and area will continue to have access to surgical services locally with the arrival of two new general surgeons in the community.
Dr. Igor Mihajlovic and Dr. Andre Rudovics will be providing care at the Hinton Healthcare Centre.
“It’s great to see physicians choosing to practise in northern Alberta.” says Martin Long, MLA for West Yellowhead. “Dr. Mihajlovic and Dr. Rudovics’ arrival means many surgical services will continue to be offered in Hinton and that’s important to this government. When Albertans need surgery, ideally the procedure can be done close to their home so family and loved ones can be around to support them.”
Alberta Health Services (AHS) continues to recruit for physicians across northern Alberta to meet community needs. AHS has physician resource planners who are dedicated to identifying and pursuing international and domestic physician recruitment opportunities. They work closely with various community partners and organizations, such as local Health Advisory Councils, the Rural Health Professions Action Plan, and independent physician attraction and retention committees.
