COVID-19 walk-in clinics for youth aged 12 to 17 added in South Zone

July 12, 2021

SOUTH ZONE – Starting Monday July 12, AHS COVID-19 vaccine clinic sites in South Zone are adding walk-in service for youth, born in the years 2004-2009, to get their first dose of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine.

While it is preferred verbal parental consent be provided in person at the immunization appointment, if a parent or guardian is unable to attend the appointment, youth need to bring a signed consent form which can be downloaded from the AHS website: Consent for COVID-19 Immunization. In circumstances where a minor does not have signed consent form but is deemed mature by the attending immunizer, parental consent may not be required.

This is in addition to the COVID-19 vaccine clinics ongoing for adults at Oyen, Brooks, Bow Island, Foremost, Taber, Lethbridge, Medicine Hat, Raymond, Milk River, Magrath, Pincher Creek, Fort Macleod, Crowsnest Pass, and Cardston. Hours for walk ins are 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., daily, until further notice.

Full clinic details — including locations, dates and operating hours — are available online.

The Moderna vaccine is currently authorized for people 18 years of age or older. The Pfizer – BioNTech vaccine is currently authorized for people 12 years and older.

We encourage all Albertans born in 2009 or earlier to protect themselves and others by being vaccinated as soon as possible. Please bring your Alberta Health Care card if you have one, along with photo ID. You will be required to wear a face mask and use hand sanitizer when visiting the site for your immunization.

Please do your part in helping keep our communities as safe as possible. It is vitally important for all of us to remain vigilant in the fight against COVID-19 and to follow public health guidelines at all times. This includes maintaining physical distancing and masking.

If you are experiencing symptoms, stay home and arrange for COVID-19 testing through AHS.ca or by calling 811.
