New family physician setting up practice in Fairview

July 7, 2021

FAIRVIEW — A new family medicine physician is now practising in the community.

Dr. Mohamed Elgaoud will be providing care at the Fairview Health Complex and will practise out of the Fairview Medical Clinic, joining Dr. Harley (Bob) Irvine and Dr. Sally Andreiuk.

“I’d like to welcome Dr. Elgaoud to the community,” says Health Minister Tyler Shandro. “Family physicians are the cornerstone of healthcare, especially in rural communities. His arrival will help support the health and wellness of residents and families in Fairview, as well as provide more stable physician coverage in the Fairview Health Complex emergency department.”

Alberta Health Services (AHS) continues to recruit for family physicians across northern Alberta to meet community needs. Two more family physicians are expected to begin practising in town this fall. More information on these new physicians will be made available closer to their start dates.

AHS has physician resource planners who are dedicated to identifying and pursuing international and domestic physician recruitment opportunities. They work closely with various community partners and organizations, such as local Health Advisory Councils, the Rural Health Professions Action Plan, and independent physician attraction and retention committees.

Alberta Health Services is the provincial health authority responsible for planning and delivering health supports and services for more than four million adults and children living in Alberta. Its mission is to provide a patient-focused, quality health system that is accessible and sustainable for all Albertans.
