New family physician recruited to Valleyview

December 16, 2020

VALLEYVIEW – Local residents will soon have increased access to primary care with the recruitment of a new family physician.

Dr. Ogo Anizoba will be moving to Valleyview from Camrose next month. He will be working at the Valleyview Health Centre and establishing a family medicine community practice.

“Valleyview is a great community with a good medical team and Dr. Anizoba will be a welcomed addition,” says Dr. Eva Kitagawa, Associate Zone Medical Director for AHS North Zone. “It’s important everyone has access to a family physician, no matter where they live, and the arrival of a new family physician will improve access to local healthcare services for Valleyview and area residents.”

Dr. Anizoba earned his medical degree in Nigeria and completed his residency training in South Africa. As a family medicine physician, he specializes in chronic disease management and emergency medicine.

“Access to primary care in this region is something I’ve fought for since the day I was elected,” says Todd Loewen, MLA for Central Peace Notley. “I’m grateful our government has recognized the unique nature of rural healthcare and the unique challenges that come with that. On behalf of Valleyview and area residents, I’d like to warmly welcome Dr. Anizoba to the community.”

When he’s not working, Dr. Anizoba says he enjoys watching and playing soccer, and fishing. He is married with three children.

AHS will update the community with more details on his arrival and community practice when they are available.
