FORT McMURRAY — Residents living in Fort McMurray and the surrounding Wood Buffalo region who are looking to continue staying active this year are invited to participate in Alberta Health Services’ (AHS) free Walk On program.
The Walk On program operates out of MacDonald Island Park, Anzac and Conklin.
Participants walk on a track based on their individual abilities and all walking speeds are welcome. Any form of physical activity is beneficial and has been shown to play a huge role in preventing and managing chronic disease, such as diabetes. Participants also build muscle strength and flexibility, reducing the odds of falling or injury.
AHS’ Fort McMurray Wellness Team and Population and Public Health offer these programs in collaboration with the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo. Strollers and walkers are welcome. Participants are asked to bring walking shoes and comfortable clothing.
Registration is not required. Please check in with the front desk upon arrival.
Alberta Health Services is the provincial health authority responsible for planning and delivering health supports and services for more than four million adults and children living in Alberta.
