Temporary emergency department closure at Hinton Health Centre

May 6, 2024

HINTON - Due to a sudden and unexpected gap in staff coverage, the Emergency Department (ED) at the Hinton Health Centre will be temporarily closed overnight tonight, May 5, until May 6 at 7 a.m., at which time service will resume.

Residents are asked to call 911 if they have a medical emergency.

EMS will be re-routed to surrounding facilities, including Jasper and Edson. Any patient that presents to the Hinton site will be referred to emergency departments in surrounding communities. EMS will be available to transport patients to other facilities depending on their condition.

All other services at the site will continue to operate as normal throughout this overnight ED closure. Inpatient units are not affected, and patients will continue to receive the care and support they need.

We are thankful for the support of surrounding healthcare centres and medical staff and would like to thank the community for their patience and understanding during this time.
