Health Advice

Do you have health concerns about you or your child? Call Health Link and you have options to speak with a variety of health care professionals including registered nurses, dieticians, dementia specialists and mental health and rehabilitation clinicians. We will help determine the best care for your individual situation.

Primary Care Providers

Health Link works with different doctors and other health care providers to help figure out the best type of care for you. We are able to offer referrals to after-hours clinics and services, including some Primary Care Networks (PCN's).

Addiction & Mental Health

Do you have a question or concern about an addiction or mental health issue? The Addiction Helpline and the Mental Health Helpline are both answered 24/7 by a team of registered mental health professionals (Social Workers, Psychologists, Nurses, Occupational Therapists) at Health Link. You can now dial 811 to easily reach our team.

Whether you are concerned about yourself or someone else, our team can give you advice, support (even during a crisis), and information about mental health and addiction resources anywhere in Alberta.


AlbertaQuits Helpline

The AlbertaQuits Helpline is a free, confidential, non-judgmental support service to help people cut back or quit using tobacco products. Our business hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., 7 days a week. Staffed with trained cessation counselors, who can give you information about quitting tobacco use, help you make a quit plan, help you deal with cravings and triggers, and give you ongoing support to help you stay motivated. If your first language isn't English, we can access the language line to get an interpreter to join the call—over 240 languages are available.

AlbertaQuits has many programs and services through groups, text, and online. To learn more, go to albertaquits.healthiertogether.ca. You can use the resources on your own or with phone counselling—whatever works best for you.

Dementia Advice

A dementia diagnosis can be an overwhelming experience for both patients and their families. Dementia Advice through Health Link, helps ease the stress by providing compassionate advice about living with dementia.

  • Recommend Supports & Assistance
  • Facilitate Long Term Support
  • Provide Self-Care Tips For Caregivers

Rehabilitation Advice Line

Do you have questions about a new or chronic bone or joint condition? Do you have questions about managing a neurological condition for yourself or someone else? Do you have concerns about your child’s development and well-being? Do you need help with recovering from COVID-19? Looking for in person rehabilitation services or clinics in your community?

Nutrition Information

Do you have a nutrition question? Health Link has registered dietitians available to answer nutrition questions about:

  • Healthy Eating
  • Pregnancy
  • Breastfeeding or infant formula
  • Feeding your toddler or young child
  • Health conditions such as: Diabetes, high cholesterol, high triglycerides, kidney disease, celiac disease, irritable bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome, pancreatitis, cancer, obesity, malnutrition, and long COVID
  • Eating after discharge from hospital
  • Eating after surgery
  • Weight gain or loss
  • Digestive symptoms such as: Heart burn, constipation, diarrhea, or vomiting
  • Nutrition supplements to provide extra protein and calories
