As more youth and young adults seek Addiction & Mental Health services and the potential increase in those needing support due to the impact of COVID-19, Alberta Health Services is working to enhance services for youth.
AHS has launched a pilot project that will see an increase in virtual supports through an e-Mental Health platform helping empower youth in managing their wellbeing.
The e-Mental Health for Youth & Young Adults in Alberta project is using the InnoWell digital platform. This online site is available to youth and young adults, in communities participating in this study, through their school, physician or counsellor.
The platform empowers youth and young adults to participate more deeply in their care plan by providing mental health evaluations in 20 different areas (e.g. depression, anxiety, and social connectedness). After completing an evaluation, platform users are immediately provided online resources, including apps, e-tools, crisis line options for between session care and cues to discuss care options with their clinicians.
This pilot project will evaluate the implementation and impact of an e-Mental Health platform, InnoWell, in 10 communities across Alberta over a two-year period.
