New temporary COVID-19 assessment and testing site opening in N.E. Calgary

April 28, 2021

CALGARY – In an effort to increase COVID-19 testing capacity in Calgary, Alberta Health Services (AHS) has established a new assessment and testing site in N.E. Calgary.

With the help of the City of Calgary, a suitable location was secured for a temporary walk-up testing site at the McKnight Westwinds Park & Ride lot, 3777 Westwinds Drive N.E.

This facility is for those with COVID-19 symptoms or those who are close contacts of a confirmed COVID-19 case.

With an increase in COVID-19 cases, including the more contagious variant strains, Albertans with symptoms and those who have been in close contact with a suspect or confirmed case are strongly encouraged to book a quick, free appointment.

The site, opening on Friday, April 30, will operate from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

This service is for booked appointments only. This location will be available through the booking tool and people can easily schedule appointments online on the AHS website at COVID-19 Testing / Online Booking or by calling 811.

It is expected that the number of daily tests conducted at this site will reach 500 by early next week with the goal of completing as many as 2,000 tests per day when the facility is operating at full capacity.

The temporary trailer-based testing facility is located in the south parking lot of the McKnight Westwinds LRT station. Follow the signs to the testing trailer and please remain in your vehicle until called by a nurse for your test.

Make sure you have your Alberta Health Card and photo ID ready. You will be required to wear a face mask and use hand sanitizer. There are no washroom facilities available on site for client use.

Please do your part in helping keep our community as safe as possible. It is vitally important for all of us to remain vigilant in the fight against COVID-19 and to follow public health guidelines at all times. This includes limiting contacts to your cohorts, avoiding indoor gatherings, maintaining physical distancing and masking.

If you are experiencing symptoms, stay home and arrange for COVID-19 testing through AHS.ca or by calling 811.
