Fort Saskatchewan Community Hospital resumes labour and delivery services

March 22, 2021

EDMONTON – The Fort Saskatchewan Community Hospital’s (FSCH) Women’s Health Program will restore obstetrical services for patients who are not COVID-19 positive or COVID-19 presumptive, effective Monday, March 22 at 8 a.m.

All appropriate infection prevention and control measures have been implemented to ensure safe patient care as the FSCH labour and delivery unit reopens to maternity patients.

Midwives and physicians with privileges at the FSCH will work with their patients to screen for COVID-19 prior to delivery and ensure the patient is directed to the appropriate hospital.

For the duration of the pandemic response, COVID-19 positive and COVID-19 presumptive positive patients will be referred or transferred to an alternative labour and delivery site in the Edmonton Zone, if delivery is not imminent.
