Type A Continuing Care Home

Offers 24/7 care for people with complex, unpredictable medical needs who require 24-hour onsite Registered Nurse assessment and/or treatment.

Continuing Care Home Type A is for individuals who may:

  • have highly complex, unpredictable medical needs including chronic disease management
  • experience serious changes in healthcare needs requiring unscheduled registered nurse assessment and intervention
  • have a need for complex medication management and other treatments delivered by an registered nurse
  • have health conditions requiring rehabilitation or dietary professional assessment and intervention
  • have complex nutritional needs requiring diet or texture requirements
  • have unpredictable behaviour, including increased safety risks to themselves or others
  • require extensive assistance with all aspects of daily activities including grooming, hygiene, eating, transfers, mobility, etc.
  • be unable to use a call system to get help

You can be referred and assessed by a Transition Coordinator or Case Manager. If you are eligible, you will receive further information about the service.

You will be assessed to find a place that is right for your needs. Wait may be dependant on services needed.

Fees

There is a cost for accommodation and extra services. Accommodation charges will not exceed the maximum amounts set by the Government of Alberta. Additional costs may vary at difference sites.
