What does this job look like at AHS?

Service workers have a wide range of responsibilities. They porter patients to and from different hospital units; clean and disinfect patient use items and equipment; transport lab specimens, blood and blood products; and transport patient charts. As part of their role, they ensure that multi-purpose examining rooms, outpatient surgery rooms, and entire units are properly and fully stocked with instruments, equipment and other supplies.

Service workers are located in a number of different facilities including hospitals, medical centers and continuing care facilities. They may work full-time or part-time hours. Shift schedules may include a combination of day, evening and weekend shifts.

Service workers spend the majority of the day standing, walking and bending. As they are responsible for transporting equipment and supplies, they will be required to do some lifting.
