Lac La Biche local advisory council to host public information session

LAC LA BICHE – Residents are invited to a public information session on Sept. 11 to learn more about efforts by Alberta Health Services (AHS) to provide additional community-based care.

Hosted by the Lakeland Communities Health Advisory Council (HAC), the session runs from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at McArthur Place, 10307 100 St.

Dr. Richard Lewanczuk, a senior medical director with AHS, will be presenting on Enhancing Care in the Community, a cornerstone of the organization’s health plan. It aims to move appropriate services out of hospital and safely deliver them in the community, freeing hospital beds for Albertans who need that high level of care.

The Enhancing Care in the Community session will be preceded by a meeting of the Lakeland Communities HAC, which runs from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at McArthur Place. The council will hear from members of the public starting at approximately 5 p.m.

HACs play an important role in supporting the strategic direction of AHS by engaging members of their communities throughout Alberta in a respectful, transparent and accountable manner.
