Patient food services supervisors are responsible for maintaining food service operations at sites across the province. They provide direction to front line workers and ensure patients and residents receive the meals required to promote good health.
As a key member of the Nutrition and Food Services team, they are responsible for leading and mentoring staff, managing budgets, promoting safe work environments, implementing AHS and Nutrition and Food Services initiatives, and contributing to the delivery of high quality meal services. Patient food services supervisors routinely interact with dietitians, other health care staff, patients, residents and their families.
Patient food services supervisors are located primarily in acute and long term care facilities across Alberta. They may work full-time or part-time hours; independently or as part of a team. Hours of work can include a combination of day, evening and weekend shifts. In rural areas, Supervisors are typically responsible for multiple locations.
