Needs Assessment and Options Analysis Overview

Alberta Health Services (AHS), in partnership with Alberta Health (AH), has developed an approach to assess the needs of small urban communities outside of Calgary and Edmonton when it comes to specialized cardiac services. This approach is evidence-based and aligns with best practice both nationally and abroad. It examines local health trends, current demand, future need and infrastructure requirements.

The Interventional Cardiac Services Needs Assessment and Options Analysis involved the input of physicians, clinical staff and leaders and operational stakeholders from across Alberta, as well as patient and family advisors. We know patients in Alberta’s urban centres outside Calgary and Edmonton need timely access to high quality cardiac care, close to home.
