Dr. Deena Hinshaw

Dr. Hinshaw has been a Medical Officer of Health (MOH) in the Central Zone of Alberta Health Services (AHS) since January of 2010. Since February of 2014, she has also been the MOH lead for Public Health Surveillance and Infrastructure for AHS provincially. She lives in Camrose with her husband and two young children. Andrea Thain Liptak

Andrea Thain Liptak is the Executive Director in the Central Zone for Public Health, Primary Care, Chronic Disease Management, Children’s Rehab Services, and Allied Health. While these areas cover a broad range of community and facility-based services, working toward integrated, seamless, interdisciplinary team-based care is a focus for her whole portfolio. Andrea lives in Red Deer (although her work takes her all over Central Zone). She is married, has two active, young boys, and enjoys travelling, sports, good food, and good movies.

Dr. Evan Lundall

Dr. Evan Lundall is Central Zone Medical Director for Alberta Health Services. He shares accountability for the Central Zone with Kerry Bales, Chief Zone Officer.

He ran a full-time, full-service medical practice for over 23 years, serving the rural community of Trochu and Three Hills and surrounding area. In 2006 he spearheaded the creation of a Primary Care Network. As Board Chairman and Lead Administrative Physician for the Big Country Primary Care Network (PCN), Dr. Lundall was integral in planning and establishing the PCN with four Central Zone communities, and initiated and established the expansion of the PCN (now includes seven communities). He has also worked on site-management and Regional Health Authority committees since the 1990s.

Kerry Bales

Kerry Bales is Central Zone Chief Zone Officer for Alberta Health Services. He shares accountability for the Central Zone with Dr. Evan Lundall, Zone Medical Director. Kerry has held a variety of roles with AHS and the former David Thompson Health Authority over the past 15 years. His experience ranges from providing front-line nursing care in the community, to working in acute care, continuing care and clinical sectors, to holding business and senior leadership roles. Prior to his current role, he was the Vice-President of the AHS Central Zone (full bio).

Dr. Verna Yiu

Dr. Yiu’s previous role at AHS helped oversee the integration and coordination of a diverse, complex, end-to-end health delivery model for the province through accountabilities for five functional areas: Quality & Healthcare Improvement, Strategic Clinical Networks, Clinical Informatics and Clinical Information Systems, Medical Affairs, and partnerships with academic institutions and other physician-led organizations.
