Additional Test Information: | For physicians: If Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) or other viral hemorrhagic fever (VHF) is suspected, the ordering physician MUST contact the zone Medical Officer of Health by the fastest means possible. ANY and ALL laboratory testing for patients with suspected EVD or VHF MUST be coordinated through the local zone Medical Officer of Health. DO NOT send patient to a Calgary Zone collection site (PSC or outpatient lab). Test cannot be collected by Mobile Collection Services (MCS). Refer to the Alberta Health Services Communicable Disease Emergency Response for frontline processes and procedures and laboratory information. Refer to the Calgary Zone Test Menu for Suspected EVD and other VHF for a list of tests offered. For further information on Calgary Zone EVD/VHF laboratory test menus and protocols, contact the Calgary Zone Microbiologist on Call at 403-770-3600. For Calgary staff: If "Ebola" or "Viral Hemorrhagic Fever" is indicated on a requisition, immediately refer to the VHF Documents section of the BCERP manual. Refer to the Calgary Laboratory Services Test Menu for Suspected EVD and other VHF for a list of tests offered.
