Physician coverage found for Rocky Mountain House Emergency Department

June 14, 2024

ROCKY MOUNTAIN HOUSE – The Rocky Mountain House Health Centre Emergency Department (ED) will reopen overnight on Saturday, June 15, after physician coverage has been secured to reduce a previously identified gap in coverage.

The ED was slated to be closed from 6 p.m. on Saturday until 7 a.m. on Sunday, June 16. The ED will now reopen as of midnight on Saturday, returning to usual operations to provide emergency care.

When gaps in physician coverage are identified, Alberta Health Services (AHS) has processes in place to seek alternative coverage to avoid disruptions to services. In the majority of instances such processes are successful in reducing, or resolving, such coverage gaps.

AHS is grateful for the support of local and locum physicians, as well as our hospital staff who have worked to help to minimize this disruption for the community. Additionally, AHS would like to thank the community for its patience and understanding during this time.
