Stettler Emergency Department to remain open overnight

June 13, 2024

STETTLER — The emergency department at the Stettler Hospital and Care Centre will remain open and fully operational today after physician coverage has been successfully secured.

A previously identified gap in physician coverage from 5 p.m. today until 8 a.m. tomorrow (June 14) has been filled.

When gaps in physician coverage are identified, Alberta Health Services (AHS) has processes in place to seek coverage to avoid disruptions to services. AHS is grateful for the support of local and locum physicians, as well as our hospital staff who helped address this potential temporary disruption.

Additionally, AHS appreciates the support of surrounding healthcare centres and would like to thank the community for its patience and understanding.

Alberta Health Services is the provincial health authority responsible for planning and delivering health supports and services for more than four million adults and children living in Alberta. Our mission is to provide a patient-focused, quality health system that is accessible and sustainable for all Albertans. Our current focus is on reducing emergency department wait times, improving EMS response times, increasing access to surgeries, and improving patient flow.
