Pediatric Trauma and Inpatient Surgery

Accreditation Canada recognizes the Stollery Children's Hospital as a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma site. 4D provides care to trauma patients as well as surgical patients requiring hospital stay greater than 24 hours.

Level 1 Pediatric Trauma site providing care to patients involved in accidents such as burns, poisoning, drowning, falls, choking, strangulation, suffocation, motor vehicle accidents, gun shot wounds, etc.


Patients are admitted to the trauma and surgical inpatient unit from the following areas: Pediatric Emergency, Pediatric ICU, Pre-admission and Same-day admission clinics, Surgery, ENT and Ophthalmology clinics, Short Stay Surgery Unit, Pediatric Operating room, Post Anesthetic care unit.

Referral Needed

Trauma admissions through the pediatric emergency or ICU

Surgeon arranges for non urgent surgical admission to hospital.
