Neonatal Intensive Care

 Location: South Health Campus

Provides intensive care to newborn babies.

The service includes:

  • level ll neonatal intensive care available at Foothills Medical Centre, Peter Lougheed Centre, South Health Centre, Rockyview General Hospital
  • level III neonatal intensive care available at Alberta Children Hospital, Foothills Medical Centre
  • care for high-risk babies needing close monitoring and support after birth
  • referral to perinatal follow-up for high-risk newborns
  • referrals to the neonatal transitional care team in the community as needed

Southern Alberta Neonatal Transport Service (neonatal transport team serves southern Alberta) only available at the Foothills Medical Centre

Eligibility

For babies 24 hours and younger that require intensive care.

Service Access

For newborn babies from labour and delivery or postpartum units in southern Alberta that require intensive care.
