Community Health Representatives for Low German / Plautdietsch Speaking Mennonites

 Location: Taber Health Centre

Offers access to health care services and support to Mennonite families who speak Low German.

This program helps clients and their families access healthcare services by:

  • finding a family doctor
  • booking appointments
  • interpret at appointments (medical, dental, eye doctor)
  • medical paperwork
  • helping clients to find and obtain the medical and social services in the Alberta health care system
  • health education
  • car seat installs (Certified Car Seat Technicians)

This program offers referrals to other services such as:

  • Family and Community Support Services (FCSS)
  • Family Support for Children with Disabilities (FSCD)
  • adult learning
  • food bank
  • victims services
  • women’s shelter
  • low income housing
  • Alberta Works for Alberta Adult and Child Health Benefits
  • dental vouchers, etc.
