Instrumental Swallow Assessment Referral for Rural Hospital Inpatients

For inpatients at rural hospital sites requiring an instrumental swallow assessment by speech-language pathology (SLP) for suspected oropharyngeal dysphagia.

Rural hospital inpatients are seen for instrumental oropharyngeal swallowing assessment by speech-language pathology (SLP) at the Foothills Medical Centre (FMC) and the Rockyview General Hospital (RGH).

  • Modified Barium Swallow (MBS)/Videofluoroscopic Swallow Study (VFSS) is offered at FMC and RGH
  • Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) is offered at FMC

Note: Bariatric patients are only seen at FMC.
