Pediatric Surgery Pre-Anesthetic Consult

Anesthesiologists interview and determine the patient's anesthesia requirements for their surgery.

The surgeon has requested that your child attend a pre-anesthetic consult in the Pre-Admission Clinic. This means that your surgeon would like your child to be seen by an anesthesiologist before surgery. An anesthesiologist is a doctor with special training who gives medicine to your child through an intravenous so that the operation can be completed. They also help manage pain before and after surgery.
