Southern Alberta Rare Blood and Bleeding Disorders Comprehensive Care Program

Provides care for those with suspected or known bleeding disorders.

This program provides care for the following:

  • congenital bleeding disorders
  • women with bleeding disorders
  • acquired bleeding disorders
  • hemoglobinopathy i.e Sickle Cell Disease, Hemoglobin H Disease, Thalessemia (Major/Intermedia)
  • hereditary angioedema (HAE)
  • paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH)
  • transfusion dependent congenital bone marrow failure syndromes

The multidisciplinary team provides comprehensive care to manage and improve outcomes and patient / family quality of life through patient-centered evidence based care, education and research. In addition the team supervises and manages the delivery of home-infusion blood products for appropriate patients.
