Chronic Pain Consult Service

Provides consultation for inpatients who suffer from chronic pain. Treatment options for patients while in hospital are provided by chronic pain nurse practitioners.

The chronic pain consult team:

  • assesses patients and recommends treatment options for the attending physician to implement
  • provides recommendations for the family physician upon discharge
  • educates patients regarding how to manage their chronic pain in the community after discharge from hospital
  • provides education to health care professionals

addiction counsellors, nurse practitioners (NPs), physicians, physiotherapists, psychiatrists, psychologists
Eligibility

Hospital inpatients only.

Service Access

Referrals made by attending physician. Service is only available to inpatients at the hospitals.

NP's also provide advice to Family Physicians regarding chronic pain management via Specialist Link.
