Pediatric Dental Clinic

Provides comprehensive dental services to children with significant medical needs.

This service provides dental treatment to special needs children who are medically, mentally or physically challenged. These special needs patients include, without being limited to, children with moderate to severe developmental delays, genetic disorders and/or craniofacial deformities, cleft lip and palate, severe cognitive disorders, cancer, organ transplant, hematology disorders, cerebral palsy, seizure disorders, prematurity with chronic medical issues, infectious diseases, sleep apnea, velopharyngeal incompetency, mental health issues or under palliative care.

oral-maxillofacial surgeons, orthodontists, pediatric dentists, registered dental assistants (RDAs), registered dental hygienists
Eligibility

Children, 17 years and younger, presenting with:

  • significant medical needs
  • unique and challenging dental problems requiring additional expertise (e.g., amelogenesis imperfecta, ectodermal dysplasia, major oligodontia, velopharyngeal incompetency)
  • oral pathology
  • emergencies (e.g., oral/dental trauma, severe odontogenic infection)

Wait Times

An estimated wait time will be provided at the time of appointment booking.

Fees

The ACH Dental Clinic bills families for services provided and will process claim for third party insurer (e.g. private insurance, ACHB, NIHB, FSCD). The fee for the initial consultation is between $90 and $150 and may be billed to Alberta Health if the consultation is medically required. An estimate of recommended treatment will be provided.

Private dental insurance and government programs (ACHB, NIHB, AISH) are accepted. Clinic Coordinator can assist with additional funding applications (FSCD, Cleft Indemnity Program, OMSD)
