Indigenous Elders and persons with disabilities want to be able to receive culturally safe care in their community, close to family and friends, as they age or their care needs change.
In a spirit of partnership and respect, Alberta Health Services has developed the Continuing Care in Indigenous Communities Guidebook. The Guidebook provides information for First Nations and Métis communities who want to learn more about continuing care and what is involved in developing these services on-reserve or settlement. It is intended to support discussions between the community and Alberta Health Services.
The Guidebook is updated periodically to reflect new information that is relevant for Indigenous communities.
