Childhood Growth Monitoring

AHS is supporting childhood growth monitoring through the implementation of the Childhood Growth Measurement initiative and consistent, province-wide Growth Charts.

Healthy growth is a key way of monitoring health in infants, children and adolescents. Regular growth monitoring using standardized, evidence-based tools and practices helps to ensure accurate and timely identification of growth concerns. This allows for early intervention and support for families.

Through resources and training, Alberta Health Services is also supporting other health professionals, including family doctors, to adopt the same growth charts and measurement processes. This will help create consistency in childhood growth monitoring across all areas of health care in Alberta.
