Awasisak Indigenous Health Program

This program aims to improve health status, outcomes, and services for indigenous infants, children, and youth and their families who require tertiary neonatal, pediatric, or outreach care.

Program objectives include:

  • ensuring that Stollery and Indigenous communities are part of the health care team, to work collaboratively and engage in ongoing resource mapping
  • providing the community and hospital health care providers the ability to assess, clarify, and identify resource availability within individual hospitals and communities
  • providing an effective, patient-centered approach for improving care to First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples and communities through specific services
  • facilitating accessible, culturally safe, equitable health service delivery for all First Nations, Métis and Inuit communities and peoples
